visiting
friend from ithaca is visiting today (i mean, we originally met in ithaca). we’re meeting for lunch, then shopping (i’ll not be spending any money of course seeing as the gas company pretty much owns me now), and then back to my ghetto freezing apartment. how do i know i live in the ghetto? no one uses the effing sidewalk. okay, so it’s not the ghetto, but i was so spoiled in my last neighborhood. but hey, there my car got broken into in the garage, and that masked guy accosted me in my driveway one balmy fall night. here? no one seems to pay any attention to me. who knew?
when i was back in ithaca again, it was funny how i was hyper-vigilant (like when i first moved there) at first. but i settled back into the “leave-everything-in-my-car-unattended” mode pretty quick. i miss that. once i left my front door pretty much unlocked for two straight weeks. and the basement door was never locked.
anyway. it will be fun to see M and hang. my first house guest
she’s in rachacha now. but will be here in a few hours.
must finish cleaning. i do miss entertaining. it’s time i started that again.
have i mentioned i have this week off? get used to it. i’ll be posting a lot. or not. may go to NYC the end of the week. we shall see…
that job
i’m still thinking about that job in scotland. i looked at their site again today. it’s still posted. but this time, i see they are supposed to be in NY for interviews this week. only until the 21st. uhm. before when i was looking, they only were scheduled for boston or some such place. dammit. i should have just sent my CV. i guess i could still do it today.
me thinks if i didn’t apply, then i don’t really want to. right? or is it just fear?
white people
i came across this blog (via the article about white people and break-ups) and can’t stop laughing.
there needs to be a version called what ithacans like. okay okay. not ALL ithacans. lol.
well, i can’t be all that bad if…
the other morning, when i was staying at my friends’ home in ithaca, i woke up around 7 AM-ish to the sound of little feet coming down the stairs. apparently, SOMEone had been up since 6:15 AM or so, asking his mom (G) if he could come downstairs yet. she made him wait until 7 AM.
well, i heard him and pretended i was still asleep, just to see what he’d do. he stood as still as a mouse and when i opened my eyes, he was standing there at the side of the bed i was facing, all beaming from ear to ear. good morning! i said and he jumped in the air. lol. it was so dammed cute.
then his 4 year old brother came running down, the same unbelievable sweet grin on his face and i invited them to jump up on the bed with me.
honestly, at least there are some of the male species that still adore me, even if they are only ages 4 and 7.
when i first got there, T (the oldest one) said to me “I thought I’d never see you again!”
out of the mouths of babes.
